Canon Pyon sits on the A4110 a short run north west of Hereford, and it is one of the closest villages to our base. That is worth something practically: a survey here is a quick job for us, and if anything wants looking at after an install we are not planning a day around it.
The property mix is village housing, bungalows, farmhouses and smallholdings, and the useful thing about that mix is roof space. Bungalow roofs are wide, low and easy to work on, and almost every property out here has a garage, a workshop or a barn attached to it. Where a house roof is shaded by trees or facing the wrong way, there is very often an outbuilding twenty feet away that is not.
Like most of rural Herefordshire, a lot of these properties are off the gas grid and heating with oil or electricity, so the electricity bill carries more weight and self consumption is worth more. Rural supplies also mean the network operator side of a larger system needs establishing early, which we handle as part of the job.
